Life ends when you stop dreaming, hope ends when you stop believing and love ends when you stop caring

When everything stops, or should I say…when everything should stop. More than a decade ago I lost my grandmother-the matriarch of our family. Cancer had returned in her three score and ten years. It didn’t stop her from being who she was…the be-all-and-end-all of our lives. But then one day the bank manager where I worked called me into her office, sat me down and told me the hospital had called. My grandmother was gone.
Perturbed, I looked around. Customers were still in the bank walking around doing their daily business. I could not understand. For me everything had stopped.
I reflect on what’s happening around the world. Threats and bombs going off explosively. Yet elsewhere, people go about their business as usual, posting on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms. It begs the question…is there a bridge? Do we care? Yep, many really do care. Benevolence saturates the heart and for sure, with gas prices skyrocketing, the world will start feeling the effects.
So let’s not give up hope because fear stops life and love ends when we stop caring.

When the twin towers were hit by airplanes, and fell, my husband at the time did not understand why I did not stop everything and watch the news and pray. I still had to go to work, the kids still needed to be fed dinner, I could not just stop and drop everything. I did pray, but I still had to continue as others were depending on me. In my quiet time, I cried. Just as today, with what is going on in the world. I still have to do what needs to be done, and I cry and pray in the my quiet time before bed.

Very thought provoking. It does feel wrong to be going about our lives without a care. As kids, our parents told us to eat all our food because there were starving kids in Africa. We were always being reminded how lucky we were. Do people still do that?

I just came from another blog that talks about how to face our fears. This post also resonates with how we all react to the cruelty in the world and how we manage to cope with fear as a byproduct. We, as a family, try to help, in our small ways, to let others know that there are people who care.

The world for me is just one round ball. On one side of the earth, someone would hug their mother and tell them how much they love them, and on another side, someone is being tortured by their mother and wondering why she doesn’t love them. While someone’s world is going great, someone else’s world is crashing. We all have the same 24 hours, but not all of us experience the same things, it makes the world sad and unique at the same time.
