  1. Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James began as Twilight fanfiction called Master of the Universe. After Amanda Hocking completed her Trylle Trilogy, she pretty much fell into obscurity even though she’s still writing. And it’s my understanding that Colleen Hoover became popular because a well-known writer promoted her book on Book Tok.
