Confusion is Nothing New

The challenges of life often leaves us Confused, scared. But confusion is nothing new. Decisions arise. Should we go this way or that? Should we leave this job and accept a new opportunity? Should we marry this mate or that one? SuchΒ decisions about the unknown create fear, confusion, thatΒ causesΒ apathy.

But you know what’s worse? Not making a decision at all. Some are often left in a hole because not taking a risk, not making a decision, staying in our ‘safe’ place leaves someΒ unaware of how much more they could achieve.

Today, be encouraged. Try something new! Go after your dreams! Goals! Aspirations! Whichever way, you will be a success for having tried at all.

Go ahead….try!

Anecdote. The Ties that Bind

I Met Gee for the first time through my uncle and aunt in the big city. We immediately clicked. Did many things together until I decided to return to my hometown.
####
At a new job in my hometown I met a young lady. Very warm, friendly, and approachable. Immediately we clicked. We chatted on and off at intervals over time.

###
Years later I had my second child and decided to take her to pre-school at the age of two. As she grew she stayed inΒ the same school. Time passed; kids play;Β and a friendship developed among three little girls. Immediately they clicked.

###
At aΒ school event parents were invited. It was only then that my littleΒ girl and I realized that the kids belonged to the mother I had met at the job in my hometown.Β Time passed. Later I found out that the girls’ mom was married to the son of my friend Gee…who I met through my aunt and uncle years earlier.

###
Eventually I discovered that Gee’s daughters were friends with my older daughter. They had met while on campus studying. Not surprising, they became great friends.
###
Can one truly fathom these series of coincidences woven interconnectedly across the seas in various places? Oh the ties that bind our hearts together in distant love. No longer are we just friends, but consider ourselves family. Oh the ties that bind.

God is Not Dead. No.

times pic

God is not dead. No.
The TIMES headline posed the question; Β Is God Dead? The response plain and simple as many have said …

No, God is not dead.

The 1966 surveyΒ Β shared that at the time 97 percent of AmericansΒ believed in God. Today, based on Gallup’s 2014 research, 64 per cent of Americans believe in His existence. Hence, the almost comical phrase, the “rise of the nones”. This basically refers to the many who have spiritual beliefs but choose not to be affiliated with a religion.

That said, as the beauty of nature’s grass is green, God provides the free will to do whatever us humans want to do. It is left up to us to choose. With this free will, individuals make bad choices. Let’s consider convicted criminals. Give themΒ the freedom to choose whether to stay locked up and imprisoned, or to roam the streets.Β Which do you think they would choose? One can bet that 9 out of 10 criminals would choose the latter. Society is then left to deal with the devastating consequences of mayhem in our society.

So back to the question, is God dead? My answer is No. What are your thoughts?

Re-Energize! Where the Sea Meets the Sky

sea and sky

What’s more relaxing than being on the beach watching the line where the sea meets the sky. Listening to the sound of the waves gushing against the sand. Watching kids play.

Takes you faraway from life’s cares…doesn’t it? Tis Beautiful.

Superstitions, worries, cares of the world aside, everyone needs this time away. It makes life perfect. Meaningful. The serenity of the seaside provides a pause to life’s challenges, workflow, heartaches, sorrow, and pain. It quiets our hearts and instills the comfort needed for life’s cares, joys, goals, dreams, and aspirations.

Staycation, vacation, or whatever you wish to call it, give yourself a boost. Reinvigorate. Re-energize. It will work wonders for your goals, faith, thoughts, and aspirations. Plan your getaway soon.

Go ahead….leap!

What I Didn’t Do: Letter to My Daughter

We are stepping into a New Year! As always it is a time to reflect on the past where we have come, and the journey ahead. This year I didn’t get to do a lot of things I wanted to, but I experienced something new. I ventured into new territory and published my research on leaders and how they attained success! My book titled Success Strategies of Caribbean American Leaders in the United States is now available on Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble.com, and other sites. Can you believe it?

I am most excited because I started something that I believed in, persisted, and have completed it! I learnt a lot during the process.

This is my desire for you. To go after your dreams. No matter what it isβ€”just simply Dream! Big or small! When you accomplish it, the feeling is exhilarating! As we approach the New Year, spend some time defining what Success means to you. What will it look like? How will you know when you have achieved it? Just Dream. But like I have always said, after you dream then you have to work that dream. Put the plans in place then step out and do what you must to make it real.

I’m not saying it’s going to be easy….no way am I saying that. But the most important thing is to persist. Never give up. When the going gets rough, have something or someone, (maybe a mentor), that will encourage you to keep going. You know I’m always here for you and anyone else that needs encouragement to achieve. I learnt this in my many years managing people. That’s what I do best. It brings me great joy watching people achieve their best potential…moreso you.

So darling, Dream big! Then step forward in faith! You will achieve Success if you never give up!
