To Move Ahead I value your help.

At the start of 2016 I decided to take the plunge into a Blog Renewal. I started my blog back in 2011 with only a few posts a year. My goal sparked, I decided to enroll in wordpress university. Now looking back it’s one of the best decisions I made. I became fully conversant with managing my blog and sharing my thoughts on success, goals, personal development, writing, and more. Even though there is a ton more to learn, I am pleased with my achievement this year.

To you my readers I say THANKS! Thank you for following me. Thank you for participating through your valuable insights. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

As we step into a new year and a fresh chapter in our lives my desire remains to inspire because I have been inspired.  Will you help me in sharing your preference on topics I should write about? What would you like to hear more of? I truly value your input and insights.

Cheers!

Why Retreat?

It gives you the time to focus on you, your goals, desires and what brings you complete satisfacton. It illuminates self care, letting go, and open things up to new possibilities.

“Retreat is an act of moving back or withdrawing”.

Retreat is an act of moving back or withdrawing. Personally,  I consider it as an act of moving backwards to go forward. It is a purposeful act that brings meaning. It provides the opportunity to reflect on life, on our existence, identifying who we are, and where we want to be. In essence, taking stock.

Self-Retreat

A self-retreat is one where you go off by yourself. You take the time to re-discover yourself in light of what you do. It may involve shedding some things that you need to let go of in order to reconnect with yourself and build your self-awareness. You do this through reflection which can lead to self-discovery, self-development, as well as increased self-esteem, and self-love.  Renewal of the self is important.

Ways to Retreat

For years my company organized retreats. We would do it for all employees, departments, or at the managerial level in order to drive the year’s annual goals. It proved to be an exercise that I have valued throughout time.

That said, retreats can be elaborate or quite simple. It can be at a resort, at a conference or success symposium, in a cabin in the woods, or a simple retreat in your own home. At-home-retreats can be risky due to the distraction of everyday life. But if you are disciplined and create that ‘away’ space for the duration of your retreat, it can still be quite useful. Hey, better to do something than nothing.

Just as long as the purpose is being met a retreat can be a transformational experience. It gives you the time to focus on you, your goals, desires and what brings you complete satisfacton. It illuminates self care, letting go, and open things up to new possibilities.

Why not use today to plan your retreat? Once done return here and share your experience. Or if you have been doing retreats throughout time, what has been your most satisfying experience? Do share.

Cheers!

It’s Never too Late…

Harland Sanders founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken started his franchise business at the age of 65! That is retirement!

It is never too late to start.

Harland Sanders founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken started his franchise business at the age of 65! That is retirement! Who would have thought that someone could venture out doing something so magnificent at that age? I am sure he was hesistant about this dream. But he did it anyway, and you know what? It became a huge success many, many years after he’s gone.

We also name others like John Pemberton who started Coca-Cola at the age of 55. Ray Kroc who started McDonalds at age 52.  Craig Newmark founded CraigsList at 42, and Robert Noyce founded Intel at 41!

These are just a few of society’s household names that ventured out into the unknown late in their life. So today if you are feeling overwhelmed and feel you are in a mid-life crisis in your 30s, 40s, 50s, or 60s, reflect on these individuals who achieved big things. It proves that we can accomplish anything that we set our minds to no matter the stage in life.

Reflect deeply. Be comforted. Age is just a number. Be patient. Remain Calm. Plan, put your plans into action, cry privately if you must, but never, ever give up! Remember…it’s never too late to start.

Cheers to your success!

Fishing for Goal…

“The most important thing …is not winning but taking part;

The essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well”

Got Big Goals? Don’t be afraid? Just do it. Big goals stretch us. The journey of reaching for them builds our stamina, our resilience. We find out things about ourselves that we never knew existed. Along the path we encourage others with the spirit to never-give- up. When the odds are against us, we learn to bounce back. Our desire to achieve and it’s in the trek that we find ourselves. We find who we are. We discover others and things that distract that we  must negate from our lives. Fishing out people who discourage us, we would do well to keep at a distance.

So let’s remember that the essential thing in life is not conquering but …let us fight well.

Cheers!
