Out There Without Fear: Culture And Dance Anthropology …

Out there without fear

Joelle Powe

Culture. Dance. Dancehall Music

Culture. Dance. Dancehall music. The Study? How does that connect? Curious, I reached out to young 23-year-old filmmaker, Joelle Powe. She shared the intriguing story of her own curiosity that led to her Anthropological Journey through Culture and Dance. A journey of success which exposed her globally to becoming a documentarian. Even before then, she was recognized in Washington DC for her work done in the Caribbean and globally.

Listen to the interesting and delightful conversation. No doubt it will motivate and inspire you.

Thoughts? Do share. We would love to hear.

Cheers!

Dreams Come Through When Writers Write …

Such a delight to see the Dreams of winters come through especially when you played a part in it. Yes, thrilled I am! I met Miss Pat in 2016 in Washington DC after coordinating the recognition of her son as Honoree. I serve as member of the Honorary Host Committee for the Caribbean American Heritage Awards (CARAH). We hit it off immediately. She shared her dream to write her biography and over the years I encouraged, reviewed the development of the title, manuscript and chatted monthly during the book’s 3-4 year publishing journey.

It’s now a delight to hold the long awaited dream book titled ‘The Reggae Music Journey in hand. The book shares the journey of a 4ft tall Miss Pat who worked hard, persevered and brought Reggae Music to the streets of New York. Despite the difficulties of being a woman in business, she persevered. Now 40 years later, she shares the journey of hubby Vincent (deceased) and Pat. A journey that has made Reggae Music a Globally loved phenomenon.

In exchange for this great resource on the evolution of Reggae Music, she takes contributions to the Vincent and Pat Foundation in honor of the Alpha Boys Home. You will have no regrets. Ask singer Shaggy of the acclaimed song “it wasn’t me” and Marion Hall they will tell you the same.

So what are you waiting for? Go get it!

Cheers

I Was Failing From Success…

I was suffering from success because I was winning but I myself was suffering for the win. I said, ‘this is what success is all about’? So instead of working hard I started working smart”. ~DJ Khaled

How many of us have been there. Workaholics we call it. Grinding away and end up suffering personally. We don’t take the time to relax and chill. Just do nothing, or play with kids, or our four-legged friends. DJ Khaled calls it “suffering for the win”.

The point is in our quest for Success, Balance is important. When we get there and there’s no joy, there’s no meaning. Find that balance.

Cheers!

Don’t Stop Believin…10 Songs That Inspire…

Inspiration ….being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

You want it? You’ve got it! What a feeling! To dream, to believe, to strive, to achieve! Exhilating…. oh yes it is!

How often we aspire to achieve but find there is an Agile disconnect between getting from where we are and where we want to be. Our Sated goals for self-actualization appear Undulated and far-fetched. We feel stalled, lethargic, demotivated, stretched like Elastic. We can’t seem to defy the odds. We beat up ourselves because of our liminal progress.

That’s where positive self-talk comes into play. To get moving. To feel inspired to be creative. To do something different. We can do this through travel, exploration, positive thinking, afilliation with progressive people, through reading, music, and more.

Songs stimulate our desire to achieve. Here are 10 to get you going.

10 Songs That Stimulate Achievement

  1. Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
  2. Aint no mountain high enough – Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
  3. Don’t stop believin – Journey
  4. Stronger (What doesn’t kill makes you stronger) – Kelly Clarkson
  5. What a feeling – Irene Cara
  6. Imagine – John Lennon
  7. Stand by Me – Ben E. King
  8. Don’t Worry about a Thing – Bob Marley
  9. Heal the World – Michael Jackson
