Living Your Life As A Mask…

A new writer shared her Instagram name. It was nowhere close to her real names . I beckoned to her… smile in tow…”you do make it hard, don’t you? In haste she retorted “it’s so my employer can’t find me”.

I smiled.

Our Lives In Compartments

How many of us are like that? We live our lives in compartments trying to separate our true selves from what those around us see publicly.

To Hide To Be

It’s a hard choice but sometimes you have to hide in order “to be“. I pray one day that you will be able to just be. To reveal your true identity and just be the you that you want to be.

Cheers!

Don’t Confuse A Season For A Lifetime…

You have to stop thinking that you’ll be stuck in your current situation forever. We feel like our hearts will never heal, or we’ll never get out of this impossible struggle. Don’t confuse a season for a lifetime. Even your trials have an expiration date. You will grow, life will change, things will work out. ~Brittney Moses

What have I done? This is crazy!

New job offer. Relocation. Tons of change. Excitement in the midst of fear.  But it comes with the territory. Getting up and going to another land…faraway. Giving up the familiar is no snack. It is scary… but when we do it, we learn new things about ourselves and about others.

Moving From One Place To The Next

Have you ever watched HGTV’s House Hunters International? Well if you have, you would know that those who take on moving from one country to the next have brave hearts. They give up jobs, family, friends, and often wish they could take their home culture with them. Often they must give up a lot. China! New Zealand! Paris! Japan! The Caribbean! and more for those fascinating new ventures!

We often say we want a change yet we want to hold onto the familiar. It’s normal. In my early career managing international HR, I had the task of sending executives to relocate overseas. It intrigued me so much that I studied Cross Cultural Management. It was often a challenge for those who took the step. But those who embraced the host culture survived beyond the honeymoon stage. They became acclimated to the new culture filled with its languages, people, food, and new experiences.

It Works. Stick With It

But like anything else, it works if we stick with it. Naturally if you find yourself among those who don’t like the experience after you’ve done it, no problem. At least you can still say “I did it“!

Only the adventurous can gleefully say “what have I done? This is crazy!” with a smile and the satisfaction of new learnings, and exposure.

7 Strategies New Entrepreneurs Lack That Cause Failure…

If planning is important, execution is everything

Done! Then Came The Hard Part…

Years ago I decided to publish my research on Success Strategies. This after interviewing heads of organizations in healthcare, media, aviation, politics, education, and such industries. I was thrilled! Hurrah I had published my first non-fiction book that was professionally edited and peer-reviewed!

Then came the hard part. I was now an author, but how could I let others know that I had written something they may benefit from? Something that if the right person receives, it would help them to succeed in business and new career ventures. Not to mention that it would drive them to take the leap and make that change in their goals, aspirations and ability to manage themselves and others?

That set me on a path... to learn what I don’t know. It’s a quest that I am still on. Tons of hard work but I’m loving it! Fast forward several years later I have published other books on success and career change, personal development and motivation.

So if you find yourself thrust into the unknown and being faced with a situation that you must confront or be left behind, take the time to assess these 7 things new entrepreneurs lack that causes them to fail to succeed.

The 7 Lacks Of New Entrepreneurship

1.Lack of Vision. Do you understand how your dreams fit into the big picture?

2. Lack of Planning. Do you know where you want to go and how to get there?

3. Lack Execution. If planning is important, execution is everything.

4. Lack of Funds. No revenue.

5. Lack of Marketing. How will others know that you exist?

6. Lack of good people. Hiring the bad. The cheap. The uncommitted.

7. Lack of Resilience. Giving up too early.

Are you a New Entrepreneur? Did any of the above resonate? Any that you think should be a part of this list? Do share. We would love to hear.

Cheers!

If You Don’t Go After What You Want You’ll Never Have It…

If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you will always be in the same place. ~Nora Roberts

Just Snoozing…

Click the snooze button and you chill for a bit. Click the off button and you’re in for big trouble.

That’s how it is with your life goals. You can snooze for a bit to recoup, take a break, breathe. But if you stop…then you get stuck and nothing happens.

Be encouraged, things could be worse. So today, start moving. Stop snoozing. Take action. To stand still is to be left behind.

Cheers!

Perfection Is The Killer Of Dreams…

Perfection is the killer of dreams

Perfection is the killer of dreams. Curious, one reader questioned it. I replied….

Perfection is a common factor with high performers. We try to make our tasks as ‘perfect’ as possible much to the demise of getting goals done. We do get them done but (like an Allergic reaction), after doing them over, and over, and over again; double checking and triple checking to ensure everything is in place. Our desire is to avoid a Cacophony of our work.

Meanwhile our competitors who do not care as much, often complete their tasks even with errors. The challenge is they sometimes are accepted giving excuses for ‘errors’.
My suggestion to high performers is to double-check and get it done especially when it’s an application or something where there are others vying for the same contract or position.

So stop triple-checking. Make it Viable…just get it done.

Cheers!
